“We can not sing enough praises for Matt loud enough! We were introduced to him about 4 years ago by a friend and fellow craftsman (stonemason) who had admired his fine craftsmanship. Since our initial project (restoring an 1800 front door entrance), Matt has completed a variety of other projects for us including interior renovations and replacements and outdoor new constructions as well as rehabilitation.
His knowledge, skills, work ethic, commitment, trustworthiness and ability to work with us on a number of challenges over those 4 years have only added to our respect and admiration for him as a person and as a craftsman (he is much more than a carpenter). When needed he is a reliable source and connections to other professionals as well as to product lines.
We have never seen Matt give less than 100% of himself and never has been difficult or irritable to work with. He offers advice and recommendations but is always respectful of our decisions and has worked, seemingly tireless, to meet our expectations - and usually exceed them.
Matt has become a good friend, someone whose company we enjoy, whom we care about and trust. Matt's work takes more time I suspect than a large company but the process, individual personal attention and the consistently high quality results are well worth it."

“There is nothing that I didn't like about Matt. Specifically, I was impressed with how neat, careful and considerate he was, given the fact that he worked in part of my living room. He had to rip off the roof over my bay window and completely redo exterior roof, interior ceiling, the molding around the windows, and replace part of the walls. He put up a "plastic tent" inside so as to protect the remaining part of the house from dust and dirt. He cleaned up immaculately every workday. He is very energy efficiency conscious, and the work he did ended up qualifying for energy credit on my tax return. Matt is completely reliable, and very pleasant to work with. “My husband and I cannot recommend Matt Clarke and Summer Beam highly enough. They came to us from a friend’s recommendation, and we were impressed with the work they had done on her house. We started by replacing a deck and some windows, and eventually went on to replace all the windows and doors on the first floor (no small task that involved removing most of a 2 story external wall) and several more windows upstairs, rebuilt a bathroom from a Pinterest photo with a vanity built by Matt and beautiful shiplap walls, built a mudroom of cubbies, cabinets and drawers that is the envy of all who visit, tore out and rebuilt built-ins in the living room, built a small covered porch and deck off the back of the mudroom, installed a heat pump, resided several areas of the house, and more. There seems to be nothing they can’t do, and it is all done with a smile, a work ethic and a quality that is unparalleled.
Our house presents some challenges due to short cuts taken with past construction, so Matt and Mike spent a lot of time problem solving and coming up with the right fixes and solutions. They always found a way to make things work that satisfied their high standards. And at the same time, they were always conscious about cost and were quick to let us know if one of our ideas was going to be more expensive than we expected. We are 100% confident that if Matt and Mike do the work, it is done right. Their attention to detail is incredible, and the quality of work they do is second to none. Matt is a true craftsman and it shows. We have worked with other contractors in the Upper Valley but this is the first time we have been so happy and confident with the work that was done on our house. We look forward to continuing to work with them as we tackle our project wish list.
I also have to add that we really enjoy having Matt and Mike around. They are genuinely nice people who are easy to have working here day in and day out. They are very conscientious about cleaning up at the end of the day and very respectful of how their work impacts our living space. They are extremely trustworthy, which carries over to the electricians, plumbers, painters and other sub-contractors they brought in. Everyone who came to work on our house was top-notch. Matt’s standards are high, and that is evident in every aspect of his work. If we could have Matt and Mike build an entire house for us, we would!”
